Have you ever thought something like this?
If you help lead an organization (whether it’s a business, nonprofit or church), this is for you.
Have you ever thought:
“We know who we are and where we’re headed. We don’t want to become something new. We just need the way we look to catch up with who we’ve become.”
Or:
“Our current logo and look just don’t feel like us anymore.”
“Everything we create looks a little different.”
“We have a logo, but our team doesn’t have a clear visual direction for everything else.”
I think these are challenges a lot of established organizations eventually face.
Organizations change. They grow. They learn. They adapt.
Hey, I’m in my early 40s now, and I’m glad I’m not the exact same as I was 20 years ago. Aren’t we all :)
Organizations are made of people, and over time they get clearer about who they are, who they serve and where they’re headed.
But sometimes the way they look doesn’t change with them.
That doesn’t mean everything that came before needs to be thrown out. There’s value in your history, reputation, audience and the years of trust you’ve built. Even an old, unused logo designed for your organization decades ago could spark new ideas.
Where you’re heading is often rooted in where you’ve been.
A new logo and visual direction shouldn’t be about change for the sake of change. It should bring the outside into alignment with what has already changed on the inside.
That’s what good visual identity design can do.
It brings clarity and consistency. It gives your team a foundation for how your organization looks and shows up while still honoring where you’ve been.
That’s the work I love doing through Thomassen Collective. I partner with established, mission-driven organizations that know who they are and where they’re headed but need help making sure the way they look reflects it.
Sometimes that means creating something new. Sometimes it means evolving what’s there. And sometimes it means building a better system around what already works.
If this sounds familiar, I’d love to hear your story. Let’s talk about where you’ve been, where you’re headed and what the next chapter could look like.
