Sermon Series Design

👋 Hey, pastors! You’ve spent a lot of time researching and writing and preparing your message. Now let’s complement that with beautiful visuals.

Communicate not only with words but with fresh and compelling art designed to visually support your messages. You’ll get to work with someone who knows and loves the Church and has partnered with many visionary pastors and leaders.

We’ll turn all this:

Into compelling visual designs like these:

About the designer

Josh Thomassen is a creative that knows and loves the Church. He’s collaborated with many visionary creative Church leaders like yourself over the past 17+ years all over the US.

For 7+ years (2014-2021), Josh served full-time as the Senior Designer / Art Director at National Community Church in Washington, DC under the leadership of Pastor Mark Batterson.

There’s so much more that goes into “design” than meets the eye. Which is why when working with Josh, you’ll not only get a skilled eye for design but also a strategic thinker and a trusted collaborator.

Ready to get started on a series design project? Let’s chat!

Here’s what you’ll get:

  • Quality, custom-designed series graphics that will capture the visual heart of your series.

  • Peace of mind knowing you’ll receive a final piece that you’ll love and that will connect with your community.

  • Direct contact with Josh. You’ll get to work and communicate directly with Josh throughout the entire design process.

  • An experienced creative guide. You won’t just get a font slapped on a random photo and handed back to you. You’ll get a beautifully strategic and well-thought-out design that will complement your message. After researching and discovering the heart of the series, each design decision (everything from the colors to the supporting imagery to the design elements) will be filtered through that heart. With all sermon series design projects, the discovery/research phase is just as important as the design phase. And Josh will guide you along the process.

Let’s get to the details. Here are the standard pieces you’ll receive:

The standard sermon series design package includes the following deliverables:

  • Main screen slide [16:9 format]

  • Promo slide featuring the series design + date/time/website info [16:9 format]

  • Content background slide to be used for scriptures/quotes from the message [16:9 format]

  • Name/title slide for the speaker [16:9 format]

  • Lower third name/title graphic for the speaker

  • Social media versions of key art (1:1 square and 9:16 story formats]

  • 1-page style guide PDF that gives a basic overview of the colors, fonts, and key design elements used in the key art

Need additional pieces? If you’d like to request any other pieces such as a custom social media package, an invite card, a printed banner, or a custom size built out for your website or auditorium, that’s doable! Or maybe you don’t have a series title yet, and you’d like help brainstorming name ideas. A custom project quote can be put together for anything you need. Just let Josh know what you need, and he’ll get it taken care of.

Here’s a peek into the process:

This process is key to the success of the sermons series design. It’s definitely a bit more in-depth than a lot of the current sites that offer “unlimited church graphics.” Josh will invest quality time diving into your specific project in order to get to the heart of it.

Step 1: Research & Discovery

We’ll kick off the project with researching concepts in order to discover the best visual direction for the series key art. The key art includes the title design, fonts, colors and design elements.

  • You’ll fill out a project questionnaire that will help us get to the heart of the series. We will also have calls as needed to discuss anything you need.

  • Up to 3 mood boards will be presented to you to narrow in on the visual direction for the key art.

Step 2: Key art and digital assets

After researching and discovering the heart of the series, each design decision (everything from the colors to the supporting imagery to the design elements) will then be filtered through that heart. With all sermon series design projects, the research/discovery phase is just as important as the implementation/design phase. But the design phase is the fun part! This is where we’ll dive into the final designs.

  • You’ll be shown up to 3 design options for the series key art based on your selected mood board options.

  • You’ll be provided with up to 2 rounds of refinements to the chosen design option.

  • After we’ve refined the key art, all the additional sizes will then be built out for you. You’ll receive files for all the graphics listed above that are included in the standard series design package.

Step 3: Style guide

You’ll receive a 1-page style guide PDF that gives a basic overview of the colors, fonts, and key design elements used in the key art. This guide will be a great resource to you and your team if you need to build out any additional pieces on your own.

Step 4: Any additional pieces you need / this is optional and would be an additional cost

If you requested any additional pieces such as an invite card or more social media post graphics, this is when we’d work on those. After the key art has been approved and designed and the style guide has been put together, now we have a good base to build off of for these additional pieces.

The investment:

A custom quote is provided for each sermon series design project request since every project has its own unique elements.
